This was a video mapping experience that we (CULT8) did in Puebla, in a museum called Puente de Bubas, for the Days of the Dead in Mexico. We decided to create a representation of the 5 houses of the dead in accordance to Mexica culture. The ofrenda starts with Mitclantecuchtli and his undereworld called Mictlan. This is the most well known afterlife where one has to pass through 7 levels to finally be released. The following is Tonatiuhichan where warriors go, then the beautiful oasis of Tlalocan for those who have drown, and finally Chichihuacuauhco where babies and children go and wait until they can inhabit the earth again. We created the structure out of polystyrene and cardboard boxes and the dimensions were 3meters wide by 4 meters high.
